Earnings from Microstock in October 2011
Another great month! I have now easily beaten the $1200 barrier and ended the month with sales of $1262.67, beating last months record by a cool $200. Most of the sites did well, with Shutterstock setting its own record with $451 and iStock maintaining a steady performance of over $200 in the past 3 months. Back in May, I was averaging $100 on that site, which shows what the Photo+ program has done (coupled with steady uploading each month.) I got three enhanced downloads on Shutterstock – the rest of the earnings were the normal subscription sales plus a good number of on-demand earnings. Alamy then did pretty well with earnings of $85.10 – I am getting a lot of “Zooms” on Alamy, but very few of those seem to be turning into sales. I have always had a fear that people find a good image on Alamy from me and then buy it from one of the cheaper sites, but, of course, I have no idea if that is true!
The great site this month turned out to be Veer with earnings of $135 from two separate “unlimited reproduction” licenses for a Cherry Blossom scene in Washington and a Smoky Mountains panorama. Veer can be a bit up and down, but months like this make it a very promising site.
123RF has kept to its new higher level since I “faved” my images that I thought would sell well – earning $54.30 this month after two months at $55. This was a $23 site a few months back. Also, iSignstock, which I mentioned a few weeks back as a great site to add to your list of stock sites, has maintained its growth with sales of $65 this month.
A disappointment this month with Zoonar. After two good months, I only sold one image for $3.50. I’m hoping this gets some momentum again shortly.
Here are the usual graphs. I’ve added a new one this month – total earnings per site in 2011 which evens out the months a little to give more of an overview of the opportunities on each of the main sites.
