Earnings from stock in August 2011
The August results are now complete, and this has been a pretty reasonable month. August is never a great month because of vacations in many parts of the world, but this has been a month marked by steady progress on most of the sites. There were no one-off specials like the rights sale for $100 on Dreamstime and the $120 Alamy sale last month, but overall each agency played its part in getting to a total of $892. Shutterstock broke the $300 point again, with just one enhanced download, iStock really came through with the Photo+ program that puts selected images higher in the search results and earns more from each download. I think about 80% of my sales were of Photo+ images in August to end up with $175. Finally, Canstock easily beat its trend with $69.73 of sales from their distribution partners mainly. Finally, as I reported earlier, Zoonar broke its many month run of zero earnings to sell two images for a total of $68. Here are the graphs, with a new one this month on the growth of files on line this year. I took three examples – Canstock which generally accepts about 90% of my files, Shutterstock as the main earner, and iStock with its restrictions on the number of images you can upload each month.
