Half-time update on selling photos in July
After a couple of poor months, July has been unusual, to say the least. The month started well with the purchase of the full rights to an image on Dreamstime, followed by a couple of enhanced sales on the following two days on Shutterstock – one of our bengal cat with a mournful expression and one of the city of Abu Dhabi. In the meantime, Pond5 came in with two sales from Kauai – one of the pier at Hanalei and the other of a rainbow in Waimea Canyon. Then I did one of my rare checks of Alamy, as I had not had a sale over there for many months. I was very pleased to see a royalty free sale of one of my images of a goldfinch eating from a garden feeder that sold for $196, which after the 40% commission to Alamy means that I end up with a payment of $118 for that image. So far so good! Finally, on 18 July I sold two footage shots on Shutterstock, one of the rolling waves off the coast of Kauai and one a zoom into a Foreclosure sign. To make life complete, that same day I also got another enhanced sale off Shutterstock for the same mournful bengal kitten shot. So far, things are looking up this month!
