Photos from Tallinn online

During a recent visit to Estonia, in cold and dark November, I was very lucky to have a sunny and bright day on the one day I have free to do some sightseeing! I spent the evening before in the lightly blowing snow with my tripod taking some night shots of the city, and then had a full day in the sun and into the dusk tramping the streets looking for interesting sights and scenes. On this trip, I decided to take many of the pictures with HDR processing in mind and so during the day I handheld shots (using the motor drive to take three quick images in succession to minimize movement). In the evening I carried my tripod around and always used that with mirror lock and a wireless remote control. As a previous post explained, I used Nik’s HDR software to process the resultant files. I tried processing the correct exposures as well – it is interesting how you can get more vibrant colors without an “HDR” look by using the three images rather than just one. The images are now on-line on my Photography site
