Sell your photos as Stock or as Fine Art Prints

For many years, I have been selling an eBook on how to get started in selling your photographs via stock agencies and my best-selling book “Getting Started in Stock” is available both on Amazon and as an instant download from this site. If you are interested in following my approach to making money from stock photography, then you will find all the details you need to purchase the book on this page.

More recently, I decided to branch out into a focus on selling my best images as Fine Art Prints, using partners such as Fine Art America and Pictorem to print the actual orders and ship to the customer. Over the past 5 years, I have learned a lot about how best to do that, have made mistakes (perhaps many mistakes!) but have successfully increased my profits from Fine Art Photography from $400 a year in 2018 to almost $3500 in 2022. 2023 has just ended with record earnings (profits) of $4900!

To cut to the chase, you can buy this new book for instant download right now!

Amazon

If you prefer to buy the eBook from Amazon, you can find it here in their Kindle Store.

How will I get my eBook? You will find a download link on the return page from Paypal and I’ll also send an email with the same link – so you can start within minutes of clicking on the shopping cart above! The Zip file will contain the eBook as a PDF, an ePub version and a version for the Amazon Kindle. If you are using an iPad, please read this page about how to unzip and open the file on an iPad.

But I’m a painter…

The book will still be very useful. Most of the approaches are very similar – in fact, the main difference with photos is that a photographer often has many more images they can post for sale. The issues of getting people to actually see your art are common to both photography and painting.

Comments and ideas

If you want to leave any comments, reviews, corrections or ideas for new sections, please leave a comment below. If you are new to the site, the comment will not appear immediately as I have to approve new comments to avoid spam! I was really thrilled to get this message from a fellow photographer:

I’ve only read 21 pages so far, and I’m stunned at how well it is written, super detailed, chocked full of information that every artist should have when trying to market their work. It’s amazing. I love the part you shared about your query on the 1959 Cadillac Eldorado… I have used Chat/GPT-3.5 many times, but the way you included “..that will be used to sell wall art prints of the image and should also include details of what sort of person would be interested in the print.” I tried this technique tonight, Steve, and I’m flabbergasted at how much better results I’m getting from the Chat/GPT engine. It’s amazing. So many good things I’ve read so far… So honored to be able to read this.

I hope to get many more reviews as readers get through all the information!

Hi Steve, great inititative. I believe that selling stock photography and prints of fine art photograph can work quite well together as business model: they are not in contrast. Of course, I’ll buy my copy!

Yes, it is a challenging area, but I thought I had learned enough to pass on that knowledge and then add to it with new posts as I learn new things! Hope it is useful!

I'm always interested in what you think - please let me know!
