Special offer on Luminar 4

I’ve written before about the sky replacement capabilities of Luminar 4 from Skylum, although, of course, the program does much more than that. To be honest, I’m so used to Photoshop and Lightroom that I haven’t had the time or inclination to investigate its other features, but if you are looking for more “One-click” improvements to your images, I’m sure it can deliver! I’ve been playing with its sky replacement functions when I have either a concept in mind that needs a specific sort of sky, or if I have an image with a boring blue sky. I’ve also been taking more skies of my own – whenever I see an interesting blue sky with clouds, or a sunset, I take a panoramic set of images of it to give me a very high resolution file that I will be able to use in future.

As an example, I wanted to create an image that showed the potential problems still ahead on trade between the UK and the EU after the Brexit deal:

Still many things to agree on trade between the UK and the EU after the Brexit deal is completed
Global trading with container ship carrying Brexit deal concept for December 2020 if no trade deal with EU happens and no deal exit results

All I had to start with was an image of a cargo ship at sea without much sky being present (and what was there was very boring):

Rough seas for trade with China with cargo ship being tossed by the waves
SHANGHAI, CHINA – OCTOBER 30, 2018: Rough seas and waves batter the side of small container ship off the coast

I was able to create a larger frame, fill it with a new stormy sky without any messing about with masks around the ship itself, and then I could composite my message into the shot. Not a big seller yet, but there is still time!

But my main reason for writing about this now is that there is a sale on (and I’m sorry but I think this is for US and Canada buyers) between February 1st to 3rd on this software. The sale reduces the price to $79 plus throws in two sky packs into the bundle plus a new offer of an additional $10 off the price if you use my promo code “BackyardSilver” when you are checking out. This promo code should always work to give you $10 off the price, but it is rare for it to work in conjunction with another offer. Please note you need to use capitals just as I have done above.

Here is the affiliate link for the offer.
