Where in the world is Steve?

I’ve been very quiet of late, and haven’t been paying much attention to my stock photo work – mainly because our planned move to Morgantown in West Virginia finally happened after we sold our home in Virginia. So we have had 4 weeks of packing things into boxes and now four weeks of unpacking things and wondering where on earth they will go in a smaller house.

I’ve taken a few shots when I can find the time – there was an ImageBrief request for photos of Morgantown and so I made two trips to various overlook points around the town and took some interesting scenes:

As usual with ImageBrief, they did select a few shortlisted images (none from me), but then the brief closed without any purchases. I will continue to properly keyword and upload the shots to the main stock agencies though – a good photo never goes to waste.

I also paid a visit to the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum in Weston, WV with my old camera club. Only 6 of us in this massive building for 4 hours and no restrictions on what we photographed. I ended up with a lot of images of some dilapidated buildings and ghostly shots (some of which are on my Facebook page which I hope you will Like), and also some nice ones that will have a home on the various stock sites as well:

I still have quite a bit to do to keyword these images, but I’ll get them online as quickly as I can. Then I can see what this new location has to offer for stock – lots of landscapes and nature, perhaps some coal power stations and fracking activity as well! There are stock photo opportunities everywhere!

Over eight years ago I applied for a tenure-track job at the WVU. I really wanted it. I thought the landscape was pretty and the location was convenient for my life situation back then. But as often in my field, it happens that I never heard back from them.

I hope you will enjoy the mountains and nature in WV.

I'm always interested in what you think - please let me know!
