Earnings from Stock Photography – October 2013

Why no earnings reports? Partly because I have been busy, and partly because Shutterstock changed their terms and conditions requiring (or at least heavily suggesting) that contributors don’t publish details of their earnings on that site. I hear that some contributors have been approached to stop publishing details and I certainly don’t want to fall foul of them as I earn a big percentage of my stock earnings from that site. Anyway, things have continued to grow in total. I...

Earnings from Stock Photography August 2013

Another month goes by, and another set of earnings. August can be a slow month, and this month was no exception. Most of my sites seemed to have struggled to get anywhere near their best earnings, and the month ended below the $2000 bar that I am trying to always better. Final count is around $1960 this month. Shutterstock was one of those slow sites – I thought it was going to be one of the worst months there for...

Earnings in July 2013 for stock photography

Somewhat belatedly, here are my earnings for July 2013 from the sale and licensing of stock images. Overall it was a pretty good month – not a record, but solidly above $2000 again. I ended the month with $2149 after counting the partner program earnings from iStock which came in on time this month. Shutterstock was its usual good performer at $924, iStock is struggling (apart from partner sales which are strong) and Alamy came out of its shell to...

Earnings from Stock Photography June 2013

Another month, another set of earnings! June 2013 was nothing great – not bad, but certainly not breaking any records. Total earnings in the month were $1956, helped by a pretty good month at Shutterstock with a total of nine enhanced downloads in the month. With those licenses, I ended the month with $955 at Shutterstock. All the rest were so-so. IStock continued its decline, to $242, and that is with an estimate of their Partner Program earnings. For “technical...

Earnings from sale of stock photos online in May 2013

A month of ups and downs to be honest! First the great news; I beat all previous records on income from Shutterstock with earnings in the month of $1004. The first time that I passed the $1000 stage. After a cold month without Enhanced license downloads in April, I ended the month of May with six of them. In addition, I had a great month for Single downloads as well, which all helped create this best ever month. I’ve been...

Earnings from Stock Photography April 2013

A pretty reasonable month, that puts me back into the $2000+ earning bracket this month – the final total was $2176. Not a best month (that record was set back in November with a total of $2233, but pretty close. What helped this month was a good performance from Shutterstock (aided by a couple of video footage downloads that together $110 – one of which being a skyline pan over Boston, which was probably used in connection with the recent...

Earnings from sale of stock photos March 2013

Although March is supposed to be one of the best months of the year for the sale of stock photos, this month was good, but not great for me. I have continuing worries about the volatility of Shutterstock earnings – and I’ll do a separate post on that shortly – but the month ended up with a total of $1980. Definitely good, but with all the efforts at unloading images in late Feb/early March, I was hoping for a little...

Earnings from stock photography in February 2013

Not a great month! Sometimes this business can really knock you back, but I think the message is to just ignore the fall and get back on the bicycle! I did spend some time wondering if the work of uploading was worth the hassle, but am now back keywording and processing as before. So, what happened? Shutterstock was extremely slow in February – especially later in the month. I particularly noticed an almost complete lack of the Single downloads that...

Earnings from stock photography January 2013

The latest set of earnings from selling digital images shows a return to form! December was a little bit of a disappointment (although it is a month with a lot of holidays) and I ended that month with earnings of $1735. January started slow, but it picked up as the month progressed to give me a total of $2180 – not a best ever, but pretty close. As usual, Shutterstock was in the lead, followed by iStock, and then 123RF...

December Earnings and Review of 2012 for Stock Photography

The end of December is a time for reflection and setting of new targets for the coming year and so I decided to pull out all the stops and do a detailed analysis of how my efforts in the Stock Photography business are going. This is going to be a long posting, so relax and take the information in stages! First, how did December pan out. Not great (although in perspective for the whole of 2012, it was a reasonable...
