Getting more fine art sales from Fine Art America

I’m still at this! And I did manage to get one sale this month, although it was only a coffee mug!

I explained my plans in a post last month to really boost my presence on the major social media sites. I’ve been keeping this up with daily posts (using Buffer) to Instagram, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter but when I came to Pinterest, I came up against a major issue – I had no idea how that site worked. I know it is very popular among women and that it more often results in purchases than any other site as people use it to get ideas for things they would like. But how to work it? Well, I’ve been learning and will write a lot more about this later, but for now, I have posted rich pins (that include the price of a print – sometimes), video pins to attract the eye of the audience, vertical pins (as they get more space on the feed) and now story pins, a new feature that allows you to created a paged experience as multiple pages keep the viewers attention. I’m getting more interest now and a few click throughs, but I also learned that pins have a much longer shelf life than any post on Facebook or Instagram and so this is a long term game.

If you have a Pinterest account, please follow me so that you will see what I am learning as I learn it! My account is Backyard Image on Pinterest. Feel free to repin any images you like!

Happy pinning (as the enthusiasts say…)

I’ll be interested to hear how Pinterest works for you. I don’t know how well hashtags work for sales on Pinterest, but I know you can put them in the description.

I’ve just followed you on Pinterest Steven. I’m very interested to see how you get on. I’ve had an account for a while but where the other social media platforms are obvious in the way you can use them, Pinterest seems impenetrable to me. I’ve laid it aside until I can study it for a bit (I’m guessing it’ll take me a good few hours to find out how it works and then how I can use it). It’s funny because it’s probably the most visually appealing of all the social media platforms to me personally. I tried to use it as a consumer in the past but just found it incomprehensible and hard work. So, it’ll be interesting to see how I get on this time when I’ve got a business page and I’m going to persist past that stage.

I like your section on ‘pins I like’ so I’ll have a section like that and post one of your posts. I’m drawn to the Washington Memorial with the moon.

      Hi Loren
Thanks for following me! It is a complex system as a creator of pins (and maybe not much better for users?), but there is a lot of fine art there and I’m hoping to get some traction. It is early days and I’m still formulating a strategy for what sort of things to post. The ones in the “pins I like” are from a group board. I can post one picture there and in return I have to repin one of the ones on the board. Gets more visibility of the image that way.

I'm always interested in what you think - please let me know!
