Stock Photo Ideas – Corona Virus

Yes, I know – I have talked about this already! And there are 51,609 images already on Shutterstock with the keyword Coronavirus! Looks like there are a lot of busy photographers and illustrators around the world! There are some good ones at the top of the best match sort where the photographer has used some correct blood test equipment. In retrospect it would have been good to have bought some little test tubes and created similar images!

So what is the reason for this post? I was thinking of how this epidemic might develop over the weeks and months to come and what sort of messages we could get into our images (and videos) that would prove useful to buyers going forward. I think there is a good chance that this virus will not be controlled and kept within China. The recent cases in the UK seemed to show how easily it can spread from one person who had not even been to China. So the big word coming up will be Pandemic. This is the next stage where the disease is freely being transmitted between people in multiple countries around the world and so we should think about some images to illustrate that. At the moment, there are only about 60 images in the search Covid-19 Pandemic USA and just one if you replace USA with UK. So this morning I worked on some images that would meet that sort of search. My first idea was to use a flag to illustrate the country and so I have created some USA and one UK image where the flag is slightly out of focus behind a pandemic warning sign I created in Photoshop. Using a road warning sign with different lettering would also work. I’ve only just uploaded the 8 images I created, so I’ve no idea how many of the agencies will accept them (and how many Shutterstock will reject as similars!), but this is the sort of thing I have uploaded:

By the way, it would be interesting to hear if any of you have got any success with the ideas I have been putting forward. My shots for that What3Words app have not made any progress, but I did think that was a long shot. If one of the big auto makers pick it up, it could be a winner!
